PRESS RELEASE May 22, 2008 Commissioners Announce the Rollout Date for NACo Prescription Discount Card Program
At their regular Commissioners meeting on May 22, 2008, the Greene County Commissioners announced that the NACo Prescription Discount Cards had been received and are now available for Greene County residents. According to Chairman Pam Snyder, the program continues to grow rapidly with over 1,012 Counties participating nationwide. The program has filled at least 8 million prescriptions and saved Americans over $89 million. Participants can use their card anytime a prescription is not covered under their insurance. There are no limits to amounts of times you can use the card, no income requirements and can apply to the entire family. The Program officially starts on June 15, 2008.
The Cards are available at the following locations within Greene County: Commissioners Office, Find-Out-(Fort Jackson Building), Bowlby Public Library, Flenniken Public Library and the Hughes House.
This plan is not insurance; it is a prescription discount program. The card provides immediate discounts at the pharmacy. Upon presenting the card to the pharmacist, the participant will pay the lower of a discounted price or the pharmacy’s regular retail price. Most major retail pharmacy chains accept your prescription discount card as well as local pharmacies. While savings on each prescription may vary, this program saves an average of 20 percent off of the pharmacy’s regular retail prices for prescription drugs. In addition, participants may save even more through mail service by choosing from the list of select medications.
For more information about the program you can call the program directly at 1-877-321-2652 or visit the caremark.com/naco website.
Calls are being taken locally at the information desk at 724-852-5399 or 1-888-852-5399 or go to the County website to locate a local participating area pharmacy www.co.greene.pa.us.
