The Information Technology Office provides user support to the county's wide area network of computers. Support includes program maintenance, systems development, user and production support and office systems services to county departments and offices. The office also ensures that the county's Web site is consistently available to the public for viewing.
Organization of Responsibilities:
Administrative Services: Provides internal hardware and software services and personnel support
Systems & Programming: Provides systems and programming services for the design, development and programming of new applications, enhancements of existing systems, program modifications and maintenance; organized to directly support the needs of departments through the IT staff who works directly with specific programs and users
Technical Services: Provides analysis, design, planning and implementation functions in support of the technical architecture of the Operating Systems and related software resources
Network Services: Provides planning, design, maintenance and implementation functions for the county-wide communications network, which supports data access through the use of high-speed lines and communications equipment
Computer Services: Provides reliable 24/7 availability of computer resources supporting a combination of servers; also provides problem determination and resolution through the staff or IT specialists
Operations Functions: Maintains and operates a centralized computer room that is linked to all areas of the county, providing uninterrupted access to computer resources and software applications
Production Support: Manages and processes information flowing into and out of computer operations, working closely with the county departments to ensure that their information requirements are met timely and accurately
User Support: Provides support and problem determination, tracking and resolution services as questions and problems arise about production hardware, the data communications network or software applications
Web Support: Maintains and provides both Intranet information for county employees and public information about county government, as well as services needed for those visiting, living and/or working within Greene County. Our IT Office also offers municipal website hosting, where our municipalities can gain webpages on our County's website.
Strategic Plan:
Information technology is a critical component of modern government. As a key support element for service delivery in county government, information technology is increasingly the vehicle of choice for direct delivery of county services. The purpose of this Information Technology Strategic Plan is to assess the status of information technology in Greene County government, provide guidance for all departments and decision makers and maximize the positive impacts of information technology in delivering the best possible services to the residents of Greene County at the lowest possible cost.
The goals of the IT Strategic Plan are to:
Establish a formal information technology strategic planning process to provide top managers and county government agencies the broad direction they need
Communicate how information technology supports the strategic goals of the county departments
Communicate the county information technology long-range goals and immediate objectives to managers and staff in all county departments, other county entities, citizens and external organizations
Communicate how the Information Technology Office supports Greene County departments and agencies in the development, installation and support of new information technology applications.
