About Commissioner Coder:
Dave Coder is serving his fourth consecutive four-year term as Greene County Commissioner. Coder was first elected to the office in the late 1990s, serving as chairman of the Board of Commissioners from 1996 to 2000 and 2000 to 2004.

Prior to his terms as a Greene County Commissioner, Coder served as a four-year veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard; as Greene County Prothonotary from 1984 to 1988; and as a District Field Representative for U.S. Rep. Austin Murphy for five years.

As an elected official, Coder has taken on many leadership roles locally, regionally and statewide. Coder is the immediate past president of the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania, having served in 2008, and is currently chair of the CCAP board of directors. He is also a gubernatorial appointee to the Port of Pittsburgh Commission, having been appointed in 2004 by Gov. Edward G. Rendell to serve as a commissioner. Previously, Coder has served as chairman of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission, chairman of the Greene County Democratic Committee and delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1996, 2000 and 2004.

During his terms in office, Coder has overseen the development of several county projects, including the Greene River Trail; the expansion of the Greene County Prison; the enhancement of the county 911 system; efforts to establish major retail development; the development of the EverGreene Technology Park; the renovation of the Greene County Courthouse; and the restoration of the historic log cabin courthouse and the county’s covered bridges. In April 2009, Coder received the Governor’s Award for Local Government Excellence in recognition of his contribution to local government in Pennsylvania.

A graduate of Mapletown High School and Waynesburg University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Coder lives in Waynesburg with his wife, Cindy, and their two daughters, Mallory and Chelsea.
