August 1, 2007 Headlines: Greene County District Attorney Marjorie Fox will have an influence on state criminal penalties, because she has been appointed to the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing. The 11-member board creates sentencing policy and recommends changes to sentencing guidelines to the general assembly. Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell appointed Fox in June to represent prosecutors. According to the commission's charter, a district attorney must serve on the board along with a defense attorney, law professor or criminologist, two state representatives, two state senators and four common pleas court judges.
The District Attorney prosecutes criminal cases arising in Greene County, providing necessary legal support to police investigators and continuing to represent the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania through the trial of a case and the years of appeals which may follow. The skilled, experienced and knowledgeable staff at the Greene County District Attorney’s Office works hard to keep Greene County a safe place to live, work and raise a family.
