  Fair Dates: August 8-13, 2016   &   Fair Theme: "Harvest of Fun"



The Ladies' and Shepherds' Leadline Contest will continue at the fair again this year. The contest will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2015 in the livestock arena. The purpose is to promote the sheep and wool industry by presenting sheep in an attractive manner and allow spectators an opportunity to see the best of this industry.

Send typed commentary with $2.00, name, address, phone, age, birth date, breed and age of sheep. Also please state if sheep is owned by you, your family or borrowed. DEADLINE AUGUST 2015!

All classes may include both shepherds and shepherdess', and will be divided into age categories. The classes are:
Class 1 — Tiny Tots - 3-7 Class 3 — Sr. Division - 14-19
Class 2 — Jr. Division 8-13 Class 4 — Costume/subject class for all ages - to depict a character or subject

Contest Guidelines:
  • Entry deadline is August 2015
  • The sheep must be fitted for show and trained to lead with a halter. It must be a good representation of the breed. Decorations on the sheep are permitted. At no time should the contestant handle the sheep while in the show arena. A yearling ewe or ewe lamb is required for the Ladies Lead Line. Shepherds must have a yearling ram, ram lamb or wether lamb.
  • Outfits worn by the contestants must be made of 100% wool or a wool blend with at minimum of 60% wool.
  • Each contestant must provide a short personal commentary. It is to be written in the third person (she,he, etc.). Please limit to one minute.
  • Contestants should be ready 20 minutes before the start of the contest.
  • The overall appearance of the contestant and animal will be rated by a panel of 3 judges.
  • There is no room for lead class sheep to be housed at the fair grounds. "Coordinator reserve the right to place in this class."
