LEAD-LINE CONTEST Department XXII, Section 3
The Ladies' and Shepherds' Leadline Contest will continue at the fair again this year. The contest will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 6, 2012 in the livestock arena. The purpose is to promote the sheep and wool industry by presenting sheep in an attractive manner and allow spectators an opportunity to see the best of this industry.
All classes may include both shepherds and shepherdess, and will be divided into age categories. The classes will be tiny tots (ages 3-7), juniors (ages 8 through 13), and seniors (14 through 19).
Guidelines Include:
- Entry deadline is August 3, 2012
- Entrant's outfit must be made of 100% wool or a wool blend with a minimum or 70% wool, and does not need to be made by contestant or family.
- Females will use ewe lamb or yearling ewe, and males will use ram lambs, yearling ram, or weather lamb.
- The sheep should be conditioned, fitted and trained to show at halter. The contestant may use decoration on the sheep if desired.
- Each contestant must provide a short personal commentary. It is to be written in the third person (she,he, etc.). Please limit to one minute.
- Contestants should be ready 20 minutes before the start of the contest.
- The overall appearance of the contestant and animal will be rated by a panel of 3 judges.
- There is no room for lead class sheep to be housed at the fair grounds.
