LEAD-LINE CONTEST
The Ladies' and Shepherds' Leadline Contest will continue at the fair again this year. The contest will be held at 7:00 p.m. August 8 in the livestock arena. The purpose is to promote the sheep and wool industry by presenting sheep in an attractive manner and allow spectators an opportunity to see the best of this industry.
All classes may include both shepherds and shepherdess, and will be divided into age categories. The classes will be tiny tots (ages 3-7), juniors (ages 8 through 13), and seniors (14 through 19).
Guidelines Include:
- Entrant's outfit must contain at least 60 percent wool, and does not need to be made by contestant or family. Females will use ewe lamb or yearling ewe, and males will use ram lambs, yearling ram, or weather lambs. Contestants are being encouraged not to use 4-H or FFA market lambs.
- The sheep should be conditioned, fitted and trained to show at halter. The contestant may use decoration on the sheep if desired. Handling of the sheep in the show ring is discouraged.
- A commentary, which will be considered the entry form, needs to include name, full mailing address, parents name and phone number, age of entrant, a description of the outfit to be worn, activities of the entrant, and the age, breed and owner of the sheep being used.
