MARCH 18, 2009 - PRISON BOARD MEETING NOTES Contact: Elizabeth Witte, Communications Director (724-852-5210)
Commissioner Coder called the Prison Board Meeting to order at noon in the Corner Cupboard Food Bank. Others in attendance were: Commissioner Snyder, Deputy Warden Haxton, Judge Nalitz, Sheriff Ketchum, Controller Balint, Chief Clerk Gene Lee and Members of the Press.
MOTIONS: Controller Balint made the motion and Commissioner Snyder the second to approve the minutes from February 18, 2009. Vote unanimous.
SECURITY: Continue to house inmates from Butler County.
MAINTENANCE: MTI started working on the new locking system for the Control Room to cell block doors.
TRAINING:
Supervisor training was held for all supervisors on March 12, 2009 conducted by the Human Resources Office.
Policy changes training were held on March 6, 2009.
FINANCIAL REPORT:
Deposits totaling $2,506.00 were made with the Greene County Treasurers office for work release and weekend inmates.
Butler County owes $5,670.00 for February 2009 housing.
Recommendations of Captain Craig Haywood, SCI Greene Security Captain concerning the escape of Mark Sanders on February 14, 2009. Full report will be on file with Chief Clerk. Commissioner Snyder commended the Warden and Deputy Warden for making sure all of the recommendations were put into place. Judge Nalitz was glad to hear the DOC (Department of Corrections) was involved.
PUBLIC COMMENT: The next Prison Board meeting will be held on April 14, 2009 in the Commissioners Meeting Room.
ADJOURNMENT: Commissioner Snyder made the motion and Sheriff Ketchum the second to adjourn the meeting. Vote unanimous.
