OCTOBER 21, 2009 - PRISON BOARD MEETING NOTES Contact: Elizabeth Witte, Communications Director (724-852-5210)
Commissioner Coder called the Greene County Prison Board Meeting to order at 11:45 am in the Controllers conference room first floor of the county office building. Others in attendance were: Commissioner Snyder, Commissioner Trader, Warden Gillispie, Deputy Warden Sue Haxton, Marge Fox, Sheriff Ketchum, Chief Clerk Gene Lee, Dave Balint, Cheryl Cowen, General Public and Members of the Press.
MOTIONS: Commissioner Trader made the motion and Sheriff Ketchum the second to approve the minutes from the August 19, 2009 meeting. Vote unanimous.
SECURITY:
Currently housing female inmates for Fayette County.
Continue to negotiate with the Department of Corrections concerning the housing of state inmates.
MAINTENANCE: General day to day maintenance is being completed by the maintenance staff.
TRAINING:
All staff received training on the “right to know” law from Steritore Supply.
TB screening was completed for all staff.
All staff was re-certified in the use of firearms, pepper spray and E.B.I.D. by S.C.I. Greene personnel.
FINANCIAL REPORT: Deposits totaling $5,852.00 deposited with the Greene County Treasurers office for work release and weekend inmates.
TOTAL 110 (This includes 5 inmates Fayette County)
GENERAL DISCUSSION: Global Connect Emergency Notification System. Commissioner Snyder would like to see a demonstration and Warden Gillispie will set that up. Commissioner Coder would like Warden Gillispie to check with S.C.I. Greene to see what system they are using and how it works.
PUBLIC COMMENT: Darlene Maley addressed the prison board in regards to inmate Britnee Moore. She wants all the policy and procedures in regards to the right to know law. She also expressed the opinion that Britnee Moore is receiving special treatment in regards to the work program at the County jail. Warden Gillispie told her that all inmates are treated the same and there is no special treatment. She submitted a list of questions and information. Commissioner Coder took the list and will have the County Solicitor answer her requests.
ADJOURNMENT: Commissioner Snyder made the motion and Sheriff Ketchum the second to adjourn the meeting. Vote unanimous.
