MARCH 17, 2010 - PRISON BOARD MEETING NOTES Contact: Elizabeth Witte, Communications Director (724-852-5210)
The Greene County Prison Board Meeting was brought to order at noon by Commissioner Coder at the Corner Cupboard Food Bank. Others in attendance were: Commissioner Trader, Warden Gillispie, Deputy Warden Haxton, Dave Balint, Marge Fox, Sheriff Ketchum, Gene Lee, Cheryl Cowen and Members of the Press.
MOTIONS:
Sheriff Ketchum made the motion and Controller Balint the second to approve the minutes from February 10, 2010. Vote unanimous.
SECURITY:
Continue to house female inmates for Fayette County.
Sheriff has provided us with a secure vehicle at night and on weekends to use for emergency transports.
MAINTENANCE:
General maintenance continues daily.
TRAINING:
February 23, 2010 all staff was trained on suicide prevention, HIV and AIDS awareness. Also on this date updates and review of various policy and procedures were discussed.
FINANCIAL REPORT:
Deposits totaling $2,576.00 were deposited with the Greene County Treasurers office for work release and weekend inmates.
Fayette County owes $3,780.00 for February 2010 inmate housing.
TOTAL 104 (This includes eleven (11) Fayette County inmates)
GENERAL DISCUSSION:
Wendy Baur, Pennsylvania Field Representative for Correctional Peace Officers Foundation gave a presentation to all staff on February 23, 2010 and several staff members have joined.
PUBLIC COMMENT: The next Prison Board Meeting will be held at 11:45 am hours on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 in the Commissioners Meeting Room.
ADJOURNMENT: Sheriff Ketchum made the motion and Marge Fax the second to adjourn the meeting. Vote unanimous.
