Prison Board Meeting Notes Greene County Board of Commissioners
The Prison Meetings are conducted on the third Thursday of the month (except for May and August, which will occur on the second Thursday) at 11:45 AM, following the Commissioners Meetings and held in the first floor meeting room. Quarterly meetings will be held at 12:00 noon at the Greene County Prison. Meeting dates and any changes will be posted publically in the local newspaper and on the county website at www.co.greene.pa.us.
The purpose of these board meetings are to review monthly business and happenings at the prison, as well as to vote on matters concerning the Greene County Prison.

The Greene County Prison Board meeting was called to order by Commissioner Trader at 11:45 am in the first floor meeting room of the County office building. Others in attendance were: Commissioner Zimmerman, Commissioner Coder, Chief Clerk Jeff Marshall, Warden Kingston, Michael Kraus, Cheryl Cowen, Dave Balint, Brian Tennant, Charlotte Popielarcheck and Members of the Press.
Commissioner Coder made the motion and Commissioner Zimmerman the second to approve the minutes from April 20, 2017. Vote unanimous.
Conducted interviews on 5-8-17 for current vacancy positions for part time and casual Corrections Officers. From the three candidates interviewed two accepted positions as a casual Corrections Officers and will begin orientation on 5-22-17, additionally we have three interviews for similar positions scheduled on this date.
Continue to support our community with various work detail projects allowing the inmates the opportunity to work under supervised conditions out in the County. These details range from lawn maintenance and trash collection to painting and garden development. The inmates that currently participate in these programs are courteous and polite and represent our facility well during their interaction among our county residents. Received numerous phone calls from people within our community citing the excellent work that the inmates have performed.
On May 16, 2017, Counselor Dean Virgili attended the annual Community Support Program (CSP) “Recovery Conference” held at the Greene County Fairgrounds. The agenda included numerous speakers and a variety of topics including updates from the Office of Mental Health Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS) and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
On schedule with our current physical plant renovations and we have been able to develop resources for some of the required materials within our county, providing substantial cost savings.
Along with monthly costs for parts, repairs and ongoing maintenance, had service calls and or repairs for CGI International, Huckenstein Mechanical, and Fire Fighter Sales and Service.
Fayette County currently owes $8,700.00 for the month of May in regards to rental fees and paid $7,450.00 for the month of April
Deposits totaling $1,480.00 have been made with the Treasurer’s Office for April work release and weekend inmates.

The intercom problem was addressed with the board and Commissioner Zimmerman advised Warden Kingston to solicit bids to get it fixed or details regarding a new one. Chief Clerk advised the Warden to make sure and get the state contracted pricing.
The next Prison Board meeting will be held on June 22 and conducted at the Greene County Prison at noon.
Sheriff Tennant made the motion and Controller Balint the second to adjourn the meeting. Vote unanimous.
