News Release: April 13, 2010 Contact: Elizabeth Witte, Communications Director (724-852-5210) WAYNESBURG, PA Harry D. Gillispie, warden of the Greene County Prison, was recently named president of the Pennsylvania County Corrections Association. Gillispie will serve a 2-year term.
Previously, Gillispie held the position of first vice-president. At the expiration of his 2-year term in March, he was automatically named president, per the association’s bylaws.
As president, Gillispie will be responsible for presiding over all association meetings, appointing chairpersons of standing committees, authorizing the assembly of temporary committees and their composition and performing other duties. He will also be responsible for calling for and presiding over all meetings of the executive board.
According to its Web site, the mission of the Pennsylvania County Corrections Association is to “secure a closer official and personal relationship among senior administrative officials of county corrections and associated disciplines; work toward the improvement of the correctional system at the local level throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; provide continuing education and training for correctional administrators in new and developing aspects of correctional management; develop and support proposals for legislative reform; and promote new and improved methods to rehabilitate offenders who are committed to local adult correctional custody."
