NEARLY 200 ROLL IN THE NEW YEAR AT MON VIEW ROLLER RINK

WAYNESBURG, PA – Nearly 200 individuals rolled in the New Year at the "All Night Skate," held New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, 2009, at Mon View Roller Rink and Community Center in Greensboro.
Activities for the event, which began 10 p.m. Dec. 31 and ended 6 a.m. Jan. 1, included continuous skating, games and prizes, and hot dogs and sauerkraut at midnight. Rent-A-Center of Waynesburg donated a large-screen TV for the "Guitar Hero" competition, which featured three winners based on skill level.
Brandon Rimmel, 12, of Dilliner won in the "Medium" category and received a Monopoly board game. Chris Piper, 14, of Carmichaels won in the "Hard" category and received a "Harry Potter" DVD. Matt Hodge, 15, of Greensboro won in the "Expert" category and won an MP3 player. Chris Drew coordinated the "Guitar Hero" contest.
Sponsored by the Greene County Commissioners, Range Resources and the Greene County Department of Recreation, the skate was intended for children and teens 17 and younger. Admission was $10 per person.
Winter skating hours for Mon View are 7 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Admission to skate is $4, or $5 with skate rental. General admission to the facility is $3.
