GREENE COUNTY MAGIC SPONSORING HOUSEHOLD ITEM DRIVE FOR AVALON COURT VICTIMS

WAYNESBURG, PA Consumers visiting the Waynesburg Wal-Mart between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday, May 7, will be asked to consider purchasing and donating household items to benefit the victims of last month’s Avalon Court apartment building fire.
Sponsored by MAGIC’s Greene County Housing Options Partnership community team, the collection drive will involve volunteers handing out slips of paper listing necessary household items. Consumers will then be asked to purchase any of the listed items from Wal-Mart and drop off those items at the GCHOP collection table as they leave.
As housing is secured for the victims of the April 22 fire, the collected items will be distributed.
The suggested household items include:
Band-Aids and other first-aid items
Bars of soap and shampoo
Bathroom and kitchen garbage cans
Cleaning products for bathrooms, floors, furniture, glass and kitchens
Cotton balls and Q-Tips
Denture cleaning products
Dish detergent
Garbage bags
Hand soap
Laundry detergent and dryer sheets
Razors and shaving cream
Sponges, mops, buckets, brooms and dust pans
Tissues, toilet paper and sanitary napkins
Toilet bowl brushes and cleaner
Toothbrushes and toothpaste
Wash cloths and towels
Walk-up donations of these personal items cannot be accepted during this collection drive.
Greene County MAGIC (Making A Great Impact Collectively) is comprised of a steering committee and six community teams. The purpose of the collaborative is to create an integrated, coordinated community/family-based service system to meet the health, education and community needs of Greene County residents.
