GREENSBORO, PA The Greene County Department of Recreation will ring in the New Year with the fourth annual “All Night Skate,” beginning at 10 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, Saturday, Dec. 31, at Mon View Roller Rink in Greensboro.
Sponsored by the Greene County Commissioners and Waynesburg Rent-A-Center, the skate will last until 6 a.m. on New Year’s Day, Sunday, Jan. 1. The event is intended for children and teens 17 and younger. Admission is $10 per person.
Parents or guardians dropping off children must complete and sign consent forms and waivers before leaving. Children 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult during the skate.
Planned activities include a "Guitar Hero" competition, games and prizes, and hot dogs and sauerkraut at midnight. Rent-A-Center will donate a large-screen TV for the "Guitar Hero" contest, and each winner of the three skill levels will receive a 4GB MP3 player.
Skating hours at Mon View are 7 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Mon View will be closed Friday, Dec. 23, Saturday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 30. The roller rink will also be closed Jan. 6-7 and Jan. 13-14 for routine maintenance and will reopen for regular skating on Friday, Jan. 20. Regular admission is $5 for all skaters, whether renting skates or bringing their own, and $5 for non-skaters. Times and prices may change for special events.
Four "Skate & Dance" events are scheduled throughout the winter season at Mon View. The dates are Dec. 16, Jan. 20, and Feb. 10 and 24. Admission is $8. The skate will run from 7 to 9 p.m., and the dance will be held from 9 to 11 p.m. The annual “Easter Egg Hunt & Skate” is planned for 1 to 4 p.m. March 31.
Mon View is available to rent for private parties at a rate of $120 for two hours. The price covers admission and skate rental for 20 people. A fee of $3 per additional person will be charged. Skate lessons are also available by appointment only.
