WAYNESBURG, PA — The Greene County Commissioners and other area officials today joined together with representatives from several development companies to mark the official groundbreaking for the new Hampton Inn hotel in Franklin Township.

Scheduled to open in the fall of 2012, the five-story, 80-room Hampton Inn will be located at 227 Greene Plaza, close to the Waynesburg exit of Interstate 79. The hotel will be managed by Horizon Hospitality, LLC, an affiliate of Horizon Properties Group, LLC, the site’s developer. Pennmark Properties manages the Greene Plaza shopping center property.

"We are thrilled to be welcoming a Hampton Inn into Greene County," said Commissioner Pam Snyder, chair of the Board of Commissioners. “Thank you to everyone who has made this possible. This was a true partnership to develop this property and offer additional much-needed hotel rooms in an ideal location."

Also offering remarks were state Sen. Tim Solobay, who said the new hotel is representative of the extensive growth and development in the region, and Rod Piatt, president of Horizon Properties Group.

"The Hampton product is ideally suited for business and leisure travelers to the Waynesburg area," Piatt said. "With free amenities like our on-the-house hot breakfast and high-speed Internet access, the Hampton Inn provides all the services and amenities required by today’s travelers."

The Hampton Inn will also offer four spacious guest suites, an indoor pool, a fitness room and 600 square feet of conference and meeting space. Hampton hotels typically focus on area attractions and events and usually feature local photography and artwork.
