GREENSBORO HABITAT PROJECT GETS SUPPORT FROM DOMINION FOUNDATION For Release: Dec. 31, 2011 / Contact: www.dom.com
GREENSBORO, PA Dominion, one of the nation's largest producers and transporters of energy, awarded $10,000 to Greene County Habitat for Humanity to support the building of homes in Greensboro.
Dominion visited Habitat's Greensboro build to see firsthand the progress being made and present the award.
"Dominion is privileged to support Habitat for Humanity in Greene County," said James C. Mesloh, executive director of the Dominion Foundation. "We are particularly excited for the revitalization of a community that has not had new home construction since the 1960s." The grants were made through the Dominion Foundation, the company's charitable arm.
Keith Davin, executive director of Greene County Habitat for Humanity, said, "Dominion's support will serve as a model for other companies to assist a community that is in the midst of revitalization. Dominion's contribution will help house a family."
Greene County Habitat for Humanity helps families in need of suitable housing to build a home of their own. Habitat families then repay Habitat for the cost of the construction through a zero percent mortgage held by Habitat. Mortgage payments are then used to build additional homes throughout the County.
