WAYNESBURG, PA — Greene County Commissioner Pam Snyder, chair of the Board of Commissioners, has been elected secretary/treasurer of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission (SPC). Snyder was elected Jan. 30 during the commission’s annual meeting to elect its officers and executive committee.

"I am extremely proud that my colleagues from across the region have chosen me to serve as an officer of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission,” Snyder said. “It is a great honor to take on a leadership role within the commission and to represent Greene County at this level. I anticipate much work and collaboration with my counterparts in other counties as we address planning and transportation issues facing our area."

SPC is Southwestern Pennsylvania’s regional forum for collaboration, planning and public decision-making. The commission is the official Metropolitan Planning Organization for Pittsburgh and the following 10 counties: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington and Westmoreland. The commission plans and prioritizes the use of all state and federal transportation funds allocated to the region, and has the authority to make decisions affecting the 10-county region.
