More than 20 win awards at Hawkeyes benefit shoot
FOR RELEASE — May 20, 2015

DILLINER, PA — Twenty-five individuals won awards during a benefit shoot hosted by the Hunting Hills Hawkeyes, Greene County’s Scholastic Clay Target Program team. The shoot was held Sunday, May 17, at Hunting Hills in Dilliner, Pa.

Participants could compete individually or in teams of five in the shoot of 100 clay targets. Award categories included youth, ladies, male, individuals and teams.

The following awards were given:
  • Youth Highest Overall Male: Parker Woodring of Carmichaels.
  • Youth Highest Overall Female: Kyleigh Kozel of Carmichaels.
  • Sr. Varsity: Champion, Parker Woodring of Carmichaels, and runner-up, Branden Sanders of Waynesburg.
  • Jr. Varsity: Champion, Zach Abbott of Rogersville, and runner-up, Garrett Ross of Aleppo.
  • Intermediate Advanced: Champion, Noah Haines of Greensboro, and runner-up, Arran Hinerman of Waynesburg.
  • Intermediate Entry: Champion, Zach Wilson of Waynesburg, and runner-up, Thaine Miller of Waynesburg.
  • Rookie: Champion, Landon Friend of Point Marion, and runner-up, Payton Raber of Waynesburg.
  • Adult Highest Overall Male: Gary Deguzman of Wheeling, W.Va.
  • Adult Highest Overall Female: Pam Blaker of Carmichaels.
  • Adult: Second place, Ron Virgili of Jefferson; third place, Nick Clarke of Carmichaels; fourth place, John Hutchinson of Belle Vernon; and fifth place, Andrew Buchtan of Greensboro.
  • Teams: First place, Will Abbott, Nick Clarke, Matt Friend, Chris Popernack and Parker Woodring, with a total score of 432; and second place, Bruce Headman, Hunter Scott, Scott Scott, Seth Wilson and Zach Wilson, with a total score of 416.
Following the shoot, a catered dinner, 50/50 raffle and prize drawings were held.

The benefit shoot was sponsored by the Greene County Commissioners and Greene County Department of Recreation, and was organized by the Hawkeyes’ coaches and parents.

Additional sponsors were 4 Seasons Lawn and Garden, Buddy’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods of Morgantown, W.Va., and Washington, First Federal Savings and Loan of Greene County, Hinerman’s NAPA, Hunting Hills and Ozies Sport Shop.

The Hawkeyes will compete Saturday, June 20, in the annual Pennsylvania Scholastic Clay Target Program Sporting Clays Championship at Blue Ridge Sportsman Club in Harrisburg, Pa. This event involves youth shooters from across the state competing in a 100-target shoot to determine state winners in six skill divisions.
