To comply with the settlement made by the Pennsylvania Department of State, the County purchased new voting systems with a voter-verifiable paper trail. The money for these systems had been set aside in 2016 from Act 13 Impact fees, and reibursement, in part, is expected from Federal and State sources.
The County will be demonstrating the machines throughout the County, as directed by the Board of Elections, and will implement the new system in the 2019 Primary Election on May 21st, 2019.
While the new system is very much like the old system, there are a few differences, since every vote must be backed up by a paper ballot. Note that these video's were made by the manufacturer and are not specific to the state of Pennsylvania but the process is the same.
For more information on the new voting systemor to volunteer to work at a polling place during the May Primary, please contact Tina Kiger, Elections Director at 724-852-5304 or Scott Kelley, Electronic Voting system Custodian at 724-852-5296.
The below links are for the 2019 Primary Sample Ballots. Each district, where the ballot is the same, is in one link. For instance, All 4 Cumberland precincts are in one file but since Waynesburg Borough selects a Council Member from each Ward, each Wards ballot is listed seperately.
Please note that the Court of Common Pleas has decreed that Dunkard Township will now have 2 voting precincts; Dunkard 1 in Bobtown and Dunkard 2 at the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church. Voter registration cards will be mailed to each registered voter letting them know the precinct to which they are assigned.
