Recreation to offer Ballroom Dance Classes

The Greene County Department of Recreation will offer a selection of Ballroom Dance lessons on Thursday evenings from Jan. 16 through Mar. 19.

The ten-evening classes will cover dances, such as the cha-cha, merengue, polka, salsa, swing, tango, two-step and waltz. The cost for each class is $15 per couple, or $7.50 per person to attend and class size is limited to adults age 18 and older.

Each class will be held at the Greene County Fairgrounds beginning at 6 p.m., in the upper level of the 4-H or Auction building. Pre-registration and payment are required by Thursday, Jan. 9.

Master of Arts instructor Bill Duff, Jr., will provide direction and practice music for the laid-back sessions. Duff, a native of Morgantown W.Va., has also educated students in line, social and western dance styles at various Morgantown locations for more than ten years.

Students are encouraged to share preference to above dance styles when registering to establish popular interest. Consensus will be decided by attendees at the first class. Comfortable clothing and non-grip shoes are desired.

The variety of dance-style classes are sponsored by the Greene County Commissioners.

For more information, or to pre-register for the classes, call the Department of Recreation at 724-852-5323.
