Commissioners issue proclamation for National Nurses Week

WAYNESBURG, PA. – During their recent meeting, Greene County Commissioners proclaimed May 6-12, 2019 as National Nurses Week.

The proclamation states that more than 3 million registered nurses in the U.S. constitute the nation’s largest health care profession; and that the nursing profession plays a critical role in improving patient outcomes, increasing access, coordinating care and reducing health care costs.

“The depth and breadth of the registered nursing profession meet the different and emerging health care needs of the American population in a wide range of settings,” the proclamation states. “A renewed emphasis on primary and preventative health care will require better utilization of all of the nation’s registered nursing resources.

In presenting the proclamation, Commissioners said more qualified registered nurses will be needed in the future to meet the increasingly complex needs of health care consumers in Greene County’s communities. They asked all residents to join them “in honoring the registered nurses who care for all of us.”
