Overview

The Department of Planning & Community Development serves as the administrative body for the Greene County Planning Commission, the Tax Abatement Program, and Solid Waste and Recycling and reports directly to the Greene County Board of Commissioners. Information for each of these programs are available through the below links.
 

2/3/2022 The Greene County Commissioners are excited to announce the County of Greene is now accepting applications for the Potential Infrastructure Opportunities Needing External Expenditures and Resources.

PIONEER APPLICATIONS

PIONEER is a strategic leveraging program created by the Greene County Commissioners using ACT 13 funding and other available funds for Townships, Water and Sewage Authorities, and other eligible service providers that have made a commitment to provide and/or improve infrastructure. The program provides funding for infrastructure, including but not limited to: water, sewer, stormwater and/or transportation. Leveraging is achieved by a commitment from the grantee or through various partnerships in the form of cash, labor, and/or equipment.

Infrastructure Grants up to $50,000 per applicant and up to $500,000 per project. For questions concerning the PIONEER Program, please contact CDBGHome@co.greene.pa.us .

GIS Internship

Interested in a GIS Internship with our Department!?

Greene County’s Department of Planning and Community Development Department would like to announce a new GIS Internship Program. The department will be working alongside Southwest Training Services, Inc. to introduce young adults who are   interested in GIS-Arc mapping to the tools and methods needed to succeed. Students will have the opportunity to work with Geographic Information System (GIS), gain experience, and obtain college credits all while working for local government.

Save Lives Feed Families Blood Drive

Greene Commissioners Approve Second Amendment Sanctuary Resolution

4 February 2021
Greene County Commissioners, by majority vote, approved a resolution to make the county a sanctuary for Second Amendment rights. The proposed Second Amendment Sanctuary Resolution states that the county will not recognize the enforcement of any new laws that alter Second Amendment rights.

Covid Updates January 2021

Greene County is in a supporting role in administering the COVID-19 vaccine. The County continues to be a partner in information gathering, plan validation and assisting in any way available.

County to Update Aerial Imagery

19 October 2020
The County of Greene has contracted with Eagleview Technologies, dba Pictometry International, to provide updated LiDAR data and high resolution imagery of the entire county. The LiDAR data will be collected, by airplane, during the last half of October, 2020.

GRACE Program 2020 2021 Contract Approval

Mon Skating Rink

16 September 2020
The Greene County Department of Recreation recently oversaw the completion of much-needed renovations to the Mon View Roller Rink. The department took advantage of the COVID-19 forced closure of this facility to make significant improvements.
