The Greene County Board of Elections has been made aware of an additional mistake on the mail-in and absentee ballots. It has been determined that there is a printing error on ballots concerning the Greene County Commissioners race. The error on the ballot indicates that you may vote for up to three (3) of the candidates for commissioner. You are only permitted to vote for two (2) of the candidates.
The Greene County Elections Board has determined the following instructions appropriate for affected voters and letters are being expediated to all voters that requested mail-in or absentee ballots with these instructions.
If you already voted and only voted for two (2) candidates for commissioner no action is required. If you have not yet completed your ballot you may simply vote for only two (2) of the Commissioner candidates and mail your ballot as directed or hand deliver your ballot to the Election Office.
However, if you already voted and voted for three (3) candidates there are two (2) ways to correct the error and make sure your vote for Commissioners is counted. You should make every effort to complete one of the following two ways to cure your ballot.
First, to correct your ballot that has already been returned to the Election Bureau, you can choose to visit the Election Bureau office on the First Floor of the County Office Building 93 East High Street, Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. You must advise the election workers that you need a new ballot due to the error.
Second, if you cannot appear at the Election Bureau Office, you can choose to appear at your normal polling place on Election Day, November 7, 2023 and cast a “provisional ballot” correcting the incorrect ballot.
The hours for business of the Election Bureau have been extended until after election day to accommodate voters affected by this error. The Election Bureau will be open until 7:00 P.M. starting on Tuesday October 31, 2023 through Monday November 6, 2023. In addition, the office will be open from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Saturday November 4, 2023 and again of Sunday November 5, 2023 from 1:00 P.M to 4:00 P.M.
Remember if you voted for more than two (2) candidates for Commissioner your vote will not be counted unless you take appropriate action as described in the previous paragraphs.
County officials also take this opportunity to apologize for your inconvenience in assisting the County in assuring that each legally cast vote counts.
