IMPORTANT NOTICES

1. Please be advised that the
Township Spring Clean-up Day will be on Saturday, April 27th from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm. Dumpsters will be located at the township building in Ruff Creek. This event is open to all Washington Township residents - please do your part to help keep Washington Township clean!

2. In anticipation of the start of a major construction project, the Washington Township Supervisors have announced that the
Washington Township Park will be closed to all persons beginning on Monday, April 1st. The closure will last through the duration of the project, which is expected to take two months. Washington Township Board Chairman Walt Stout stated that the township was recently awarded a grant from the DCNR Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2) in the amount of $86,985 for improvements to the community park, including many enhancements to bring the park into further compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The project will include the widening of the popular walking trail by excavating three additional feet around its the entire length to increase the overall width from the current five feet to eight feet. The entire trail would then be overlayed with a new asphalt wearing course. Also included in the project is the extension of the paved walkways from the walking trail to the basketball court, the creation of a paved, dedicated wheelchair space at each set of spectator bleachers, additional walkways from the existing bleachers to the playing fields and finally, an additional designated ADA parking space for direct access to the park comfort facilities.
Supervisor Charles Hickman noted that the playing fields at the park are quite often used to provide a landing zone for medical helicopters. Accessing the landing zone with emergency vehicles and equipment often requires the crossing of the bituminous paved walking trail. To eliminate damage to the trail surface, a 12-foot-wide concrete driveway will be built across the walking trail for the emergency vehicles to use to access the landing zone.
Raffle Construction of Ruffs Dale, PA is the General Contractor for the project. Please contact the township office at 724-627-6471 or any of the Supervisors if you have any questions.

3. Please note that our monthly Supervisor's meetings are held at
6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the Township Garage Building. All are welcome!
